Urban Design:
The public space of streets, parks
and piazzas is far greater than any
one building. Buildings serve to
make beautiful and vital public
spaces. Each building forms an
edge, whether solid or porous, to
the public realm. The architecture
between public and private, be it a
porch, a storefront or a solid wall
defines the nature of the public
space.

Density, texture, and scale are the
basic tools of urban design. With
these tools the variety of life,
community, grandeur, intimacy,
public discourse are embraced
and given rich and beautiful space
to exist.
